    Food is great.. But the waitress we had was not with it at all, there was only 3 tables full in the whole place and she was so overwhelmed. But again food was great! Service not so great.

    New Mexico Environment Department downgraded El Rancho De Valencia, 325 Main St. SW, The environment department, which conducted the inspection under the authority of the New Mexico Food Service and Food Processing Regulations, downgraded the facility from "approved" to "unsatisfactory" status because of violations found during the inspection. The violations found at El Rancho de Valencia that pose food safety risks include: Unsafe sources Improper holding temperatures Poor personal hygiene Improper storage of food, utensils and chemicals Animals/vermin/openings Contaminated equipment Plumbing/waste disposal Ventilation/lighting

    I agree with most repetitive points in the previous reviews: in a nutshell, food has always been delicious but service has always been disappointing. Such a sad waste of an incredible location and ambiance. Also a sad waste of a phenomenal chef (Florez) whose creations and flavors actually have the ability to supersede all the competition she has for Mexican/New Mexican food in this county. The biggest frustration I've had with this place has been the inconsistency with business hours. Are they open or not?? We love their food so we have learned the hard way to call before dealing with terrible local traffic. The food is worth it if they are actually open. Today, we didn't call for dinner. Once again, a locked door. To the competition. Like I said, there is plenty. They may have shut down for good, so CALL FIRST. Maybe not, but I'm tired of trying to guess. Even with bad service, this place has customers who come back for their food. Management is in painful need of help in treating them better than all this.

    Our first time here. We decided to try this place after reading the reviews. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised. The chips and salsa were excellent. Our enchiladas were very tasty, but we both agreed they needed more chili, and hotter...much hotter. Sopas were just ok... All in all, very good. We will be back.

    The food was average, nothing great to say about this place. The server is a nice kid, but the restaurant was out of half of their alcoholic beverages and they had 1 of 4 bathrooms working. The food just wasn't as authentic as we had hoped for.

    We had a chance to eat at El Rancho de Valencia again! We were not disappointed! Again we had generous portions and attentive service. This restaurant is super clean and well staffed. I think I am going to ask for my birthday dinner here! My husband and I think this restaurant is a stand out - green chile, carne, sopas, chips and salsa, etc., are found in all NM Mexican-style restaurants. Making those items taste new and memorable is no easy feat, but they manage to do it here. Try it! It's reasonably priced for a lot of good comfort food. Have a night out!

    Great food! We eat here often and haven't had a bad meal yet. Everything that we have tried on the menu is great. The staff is also really great and the owner often comes out to check on each table. I hope this business continues to flourish because Los Lunas needs a place that has great food AND great service. Also their patio is really a beautiful place to have breakfast or dinner. Wish they served margaritas!

    I took my wife there for breakfast. She had the Huevos Rancheros and I had Steak and Eggs with a side of red chile. The waiter brought out some homemade chips, salsa, and guacamole. The food was very good. This will be our new breakfast place. They serve New Mexican, Mexican, and American food. The staff is very friendly and service was exceptional.

    El Rancho de Valencia is the classic story of the decline of local business brought upon by the kind of poor management decisions that keep sparkling personalities like Gordon Ramsey and Robert Irvine on T.V. When the restaurant first opened, the food was actually fresh and tasty but the service has always been notably terrible - I'm pretty sure that the waitstaff is all family, paid under the table. Still, this kind of stuff happens in a small town, plus they used to have a $1 daily beer special, which pretty much had the magical ability to make ANYTHING taste amazing. Eventually, the cheap beer dried up along with what I guess is the one pot of beans that gets reheated on a daily basis. The waitstaff became increasingly sullen and everything came out of the kitchen coated in a dubious layer of congealed grease. Still. Small town. Where to go on Mother's Day? All the other restaurants in town were packed but Rancho "amazingly" had no wait for a party of 8. My mother, who would never ever want to burden her children, did the thing she always taught us to do when someone else is paying for the meal: she made sure she ordered the cheapest thing on the menu. 4.99 huevos rancheros. As advertised. On the giant banner outside the restaurant; 4.99 HUEVOS RANCHEROS. SEVEN DAYS A WEEK!!!! SEVEN DAYS A WEEK! Classic mom. So the bill comes, my brother pays without looking at it and everyone is getting ready to leave. My mom had the audacity to ask if she was given the advertised price on her darn eggs. No. She wasn't, my brother paid 8.99 for her breakfast. The server/hostess/white eyeliner enthusiast tells my mom the special doesn't count on holidays, and since it's Mother's Day my brother is just gonna have to pony up the 4 extra bucks. Ok. Whatever. Fine. IT'S JUST FOUR FREAKIN DOLLARS, nobody, and I mean nobody cares. Everyone is heading out the door and then the delightful maniac that is the manager comes out from the kitchen and just starts SCREAMING at my poor mom. The woman, who, by the way, spent my entire childhood busting her butt managing restaurants to support our family. On Mother's Day. In front of her grandchildren. Because my brother had already payed the 4 bucks? I don't know. I really do not know what the heck happened here. The bill was paid. People were leaving. But the dude layed down an impressive string of profanities on my mom, in front of 4 children under the age of 7, on MOTHER'S day, because my mom ASKED ABOUT A SIGN. My brother had to step between el psycho and my mom, to which he declared, that my brother, who just paid for EIGHT PEOPLE to eat at this struggling, empty restaurant, was ruining his business. The police showed up. The LLPD let my family know that this is not the first time they've shown up at El Rancho de Valencia. To calm down the manager. Who was attacking his customers. Yes, apparently, this is a "thing." Meth? Meth is also a "thing" in New Mexico. That's the only explanation that I can come up with here. Anyway, stay away. And, uh here's to a Mother's day to remember, mom. Next year I'll scrounge up another four dollars and take ya someplace real fancy.

    I think this place is closed. Out of nosiness I drive in since I go to the gym around the corner. Never see it opened any longer. Sopa's is a great alternative! Just head east Main then north on HWY 47. Will be on the east side of street across.

    We visited today, sat on outside patio. I agree with the review, that the hostess station is not very attentive when walking in. The dining rooms are a bit disjointed, and inside is noisy. We opted for outside, annoyances: flies and the water spritzers. Once our waitstaff appeared things turned for the better ( maybe my beer had something to do with that). Chips and salsa and a creamy avocado dip appeared. Salsa , very hot. It was good and the chips were some of the better ones served locally. The avocado dip was not something I liked, but it had a good flavor. I ordered fajitas , my husband had enchiladas. There was a LOT of food. My fajitas (chicken) were delicious, the tortillas we're especially wonderful, seemingly made there by scratch, it also came with rice and homemade potato chips ( wow , those were great! Even if a bit strange combo) My husband's enchiladas came with papas, beans. He likes rolled, these were flat. He was not fond of them. He helped me with the fajitas, he had two of what would be three servings. The sopapillas, which come WITH the meal, were excellent ! All in all, pretty great meal, they need to work on the front service and the dining experience.

    Food was excellent! Had the Guacamole & Chips, and the Grilled Chicken Tacos... Service was even better.... April was terrific, and Destiny was charming.... Thank you both for making a nice meal even better.....

    Been here 2 or 3 times with my wife since they opened, but before the adult drinks were available, and I have to say, pretty darned good. This is NOT New Mexican, but Mexican food. No problems there, come in, get the nachos, or get the mini taco sampler (it is a good amount of food). The menu has been changed once already, but the food has been great every time we've been. The chile is hot, the salsas are hotter, and the chips are tasty. The service was lacking 2 times we went there, but still relatively fast. The fajitas are fantastic, someone else said greasy, and yeah, I suppose so, but wait... THEY ARE FAJITAS!!! They put the cheese on the meat on the skillet before they bring it to you so it is all melted in. The ONLY other place I've seen do this is Mariscos Altimar, and it is just as good here. The burritos are huge, even the small one, and it is just fantastic. My wife and I have enjoyed every trip here so far. We were one of the "really, Los Lunas needs ANOTHER Mexican joint?" couples, but I'm so glad it is here. Negatives? The waitresses and hostess never seem to be up front when we come in, you have to stand there for half a minute hoping you can flag someone down in the kitchen to get someone else. Kind of an odd layout. 3 or 4 feet away from NM 6 outside, very noisy if you go out there, but with a thick wall and overhead cover, it is comfy. The vegetation outside needs to be handled. The intersection here requires you to stop before you can turn onto NM 6/Main St, but with the high/thick adobe wall on the East side of the intersection for the business you have to get very close to on coming traffic to see if you can turn. The bushes on the corner, managed by this place make it even harder to see if you can turn left. For those unfamiliar, this is a VERY busy road, and the only way to get from the freeway through the village of Los Lunas. Can't wait to see how this place shapes up in the future.
